Crisp-Ellert Art Museum Brand & Exhibition Materials
One of my favorite things about working with an art museum is figuring out how to give an exhibition its own visual identity without competing with the artwork itself.
For the past seven years, I've worked with the Crisp-Ellert Art Museum in St. Augustine, Florida, developing visual identities and marketing materials for dozens of exhibitions, artist residencies, and events.
Each exhibition comes with its own personality and creative challenges. I develop the overall visual direction for each show, often working with imagery provided by the exhibiting artists to create something that complements their work. For group exhibitions, that sometimes means building an identity entirely from scratch, developing the graphic elements, typography, and overall look and feel.
From posters and print ads to social graphics, rack cards, bookmarks, and environmental signage, I carry those identities across print and digital applications while keeping the larger museum brand recognizable.

A little consistency goes a long way
In 2022, the museum underwent a brand refresh, refining everything from stationery and printed takeaways to the way its identity shows up across exhibitions.
I helped extend the updated identity across museum materials, creating consistent applications of its distinctive three-lined E and developing reusable templates for artist residencies, upcoming exhibitions, and seasonal rack cards.
The goal was to make the brand feel more cohesive without losing the flexibility that an ever-changing exhibition schedule requires. It also meant giving the museum's director tools she could use independently, making it easier to keep everything looking connected between shows.
Seven years, countless exhibitions, and plenty of opportunities to make something a little different each time.
